Home from the hospital after 100 days!
Believe it or not, after 100 days of hospitalization, she's home! Life is starting to settle into a new routine with physical therapy, occupational therapy, and visiting nurses making sure things are healing the way they should. Darlene's days are very busy and her stamina is starting to increase. She's still got a long road ahead of her with healing, building muscle and then getting a prosthetic leg, but she's determined to survive. My Aunt said it all - "if Darlene had been a victim in the Holocaust, Hitler would have to come up with every imaginable torture to use on her, and she would have been the last one standing". That describes my Mom to a T - she's determined to get through this and come out on the other side being able to stand on two feet - even if one is made out of plastic! Thank you all for the cards and gifts - she's keeping everything in a basket and since that first day of her hospitalization back in July, she has received over 200 cards from friends and family and through the shareacard.org website. The support she has gotten is overwhelming and our entire family wants to say thank you!
